The National Gender Service offers a holistic approach to gender care. The pathway includes multidisciplinary assessments prior to any gender affirming medical interventions (hormones), surgical interventions, or other care. This is a holistic assessment of gender identity, social health, mental health, day to day function and general well-being.
Our process involves referral, triage, waitlist, initial assessments, clinic appointments and for some, surgical assessment.
This is the general pathway, it can look different for some people based on needs identified by the team. Timelines can vary. People often move through the pathway at different paces depending on their needs and preferences.
