Referral Form
The National Gender Service (NGS) accepts referrals for Irish residents. The individual being referred must be 17 years of age or older at the time of referral. We cannot accept referrals for people younger than 17 years old. There are no criteria for referral other than the person wanting to medically transition. Individuals do not need to have seen a mental health professional prior to attending our service. Blood tests are not needed for referral. A diagnosis of gender dysphoria is not needed for referral.
Referrals must be completed by a doctor registered with the Irish Medical Council. This is normally a person’s GP. If you are not the person’s GP, then we recommend copying their GP into the referral as ultimately, we discharge people back to the care of their GP and so we will need to be able to communicate with them.
Our preference is for you to use the NGS referral form. You can download this referral form by clicking the link on this page. This can be returned via email to [email protected] or by postal services to Dr. Neff at the address below.
